When it is necessary to set up all it is required in order to manufacture serially articles with the same general quality characteristics, this activity is called Inustrialization. Then with the term Industrialization it is meant all those activities as the setting up of the laboratories, the definition of the production lines with the definition and choice of the means and tools, materials, equipments, the preparation of the procedures, the personnel training under the technical and safety points of view. It is an activity that requires good imagination and fantasy, knowledge of the applicable regulations and expertise in the field and capability of adjustment to the reality. Generally it is necessary to think the activities theoretically and subsequently to make those changes required by constrains coming from the reality. Usually the Industrialization process is very demanding technically and temporally, it requires a considerable effort to face all the unplanned events that can delay or contradict the work.  

 

In the Industrialization branch, the activities carried out by the Agency are the followings: 

¨ design of pyrotechnical laboratories and ammunition depots;

¨ design of small arms shooting ranges;

¨ design of technical plants: electrical, air compressing, protection against lighting discharge,  air conditioning, anti fire plants, lift systems;

¨ definition of means and equipments necessary to set up a fabrication line;

¨ definition of teams with tasks and responsabilities for each worker;

¨ definition and preparation of work procedures in line with the current regulations and necessary  to product a pyrotechnical object;

¨ technical support during the qualification process of the fabrication line.

 

The Italian Agency for Ballistics can  intervene helpfully as its personnel has the cited characteristics and is strongly expertise in the field. 

Example:  “I have to relocate an activity from one site to another and I want to catch the occasion to improve the fabrication lines under the technical and safety points of view or I have to start for the first time a production/verification activity on items containing exlosive and I have conseguently to set up a laboratory and to instruct the personnel or, indeed I am at the end of the study/developmental phase of an item containing explosive and before to proceed to its industrialization I would like to evaluate different production possibilities, but inside my organization there are not the resources to study the problem”.

 

The activities provided by the Italian Agency for Ballistics in this branch consist in:

¨ Information gathering 

The Agency have a look of the obiects containing explosive that have to be industrialized. It verifies the technical possibilities inside the customer organization and verifies if there are not regulations constrains fot the lines setting up. It  relieves from the design drawings where  and how the explosive components have been arranged inside the item.

¨ Needs definition

The Agency defines the needs. It prepare a list with all it is required to set up the laboratory, the fabrication lines and the means to transport the items. For each list the Agency presents to the customer a timeline to purchase what is required and provides a cost estimation; if required by the customer the Agency  prepares also the necessary Technical Specifications for the acquisitions.  

¨ Work procedures definition

In this phase the Agency prepares the list of all the activities that have to be performed for the items production and, for each of them, prepares the first draft of the relative work procedure; these documents wil be then verified and finalized during the first production.

¨ First production

The Agency supports the customer during the fabrication lines setting up. The activities will be considered concluded after the positive results of all the first production lot acceptance tests
